During a special alpha preview of Dragonflight, I quested for about a level and a half in one of the new zones, playing exclusively as the new class.ĭespite the Evoker being a spell-slinging caster class - the first non-melee ever added in an expansion - I believe it’s most comparable to the melee-focused Demon Hunter, added in World of Warcraft: Legion in 2016.

You might actually enjoy it.World of Warcraft : Dragonflight’s Evoker is the first new class in two expansions (and can only be played by the game’s new Dracthyr race). So all you long time hunters who think SV going melee is a joke, try it out. But I'm hoping Blizzard can fix these things in the next few weeks. Especially the animation to the artifact ability. I'm not going to say its perfect, there's a couple issues with the spec still. The artifact quest is pretty cool, but the first thing I did was X-Mog it into a sword because that's how I role. The rotation itself feels unique, and you have much more control on your burst window than the other classes I've played. It's a new perspective and it feels really good. I'm in the middle of combat with my trusty pet and he's tanking the mobs while I'm putting down the DPS. I still feel like a hunter, but with new tricks. I'm to the point where I'm thinking I'm goign to even Main one come Legion's launch. SV I was so against I didnt even want to try it, Until last night.Īnd what can I say, It's won me over big time. I leveled a warrior to 110 and have been having a good time as all 3 specs and dabbled a little bit with MM hunter in the Beta. I've been in Beta since May and even though my Hunter has been my main since vanilla, I was looking into other classes such as Warrior and DK to be a new main. Melee hunter was the sign of the ultimate "huntard" It was a running joke along with all weapons are hunter weapons. For years they laughed at hunters who tried to melee. The thought of a melee hunter was a bad joke. (Except for that time in BC where BM was king with a 1 button macro) I started playing Hunter back in Vanilla and would switch between MM and SV depending on which spec was doing the most damage at the time. SV was always to me the alternative spec to MM that I played when the tuning was right. When I first heard SV was going to be turned into a melee class I was horrified.
